Velcro Volumising for thicker, fuller looking hair

Think BIG. Think BOLD. Think GLAMOUROUS. What girl doesn’t love big, luscious hair? And as far as trends go, this style is bang on! Some say big hair makes for better fun? Well we are eager to find out.

Short or long, the technique of Velcro Volumising is the perfect way to make your hair appear thicker and fuller with lush curls so gorgeous all eyes will be on you! Those of you with thinner hair will love this technique, as it does not require any added hair extensions (unless you want even extra oomph of course!)

What’s great about this technique is that it can be used prior to other styles as preparation for the hair to ensure that maximum volume is present.

This tutorial will guide you on how to create volume using Freestyle Self Grip Velcro Rollers, as well as how to incorporate the technique into a regular style.

Step 1:
Using the Freestyle Detangle & Groom Comb, ensure that your hair is free of any tangles. Ensure that your hair is fully dry before continuing. Part your hair as you usually would.

Step 2:
Begin by taking a section from your crown about 2-3 inches wide. Using a medium size curing iron, curl that section. Curling the section of hair first makes it nice and hot so that when the roller is inserted, the hair will set to the size of the roller.

Step 3:
Next, take a Freestyle Self Grip Velcro Roller and place the ends of your hair on the roller and roll it under as close are you can to your roots. Secure the roller in place using a Freestyle Professional Bobby Pin. Larger rollers will create softer, fuller curls so it is best to use them on the crown in the centre section of your head. Use medium-small rollers on the side sections.

Step 4:
Take another section beside the first one, curl it and insert the roller. Repeat the step until all sections of your hair are rolled.

Step 5:
Allow your hair to cool for about 15 minutes or until all of the hair is completely cooled before removing the rollers.

Step 6:
Begin removing the rollers from the sections that you inserted first. Comb through the hair with your fingers to ensure there are no tangles.

Step 7:
With your head upside down, shake your hair and spritz with some hair spray. When you bring your head up, you should notice lots of volume!

Step 8:
Now style as you desire! You can leave you hair as is or continue to create a style, perhaps a fish tale braid. The volume added by the rollers will make styling 10x easier as your hair will appear thicker and fuller!

So there you have it, the secret to bigger and better hair. Now you can know if big hair really does make for better fun! Hit the town and show off the glamorous gal you are.
