This is officially the easiest DIY hairstyle for the Spring Racing season

SPRING has well and truly sprung! There is something special about this season and it’s not only the great weather.

Who doesn’t love the chance to get dressed up, look glamorous and cheer on the horses? Well, the Spring Racing Season has begun and for us ladies, this means regularly digging into our savings to make sure our hair sits perfectly with our fascinator. This doesn’t need to be the case! We can still feel pretty and ready to take on the world without breaking the bank.

If you’re attending more than just Derby Day or Melbourne Cup, it’s best to have a versatile hairstyle that matches any outfit and will give you more time to focus on your makeup, too. Sometimes simple but sophisticated hair is the best hair of all.

Ponytails are one of the easiest hairstyles around and have proved to be red carpet worthy by the likes of Kim Kardashian West, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, and our very own Miranda Kerr. No matter what your hair type or face shape may be, it’s surprisingly easy to master this look and feel fabulous!

Here’s an easy how-to guide and some tips to make sure you get it right!

  1. Using the Freestyle Brush Collection - Lift & Tease, tease the bottom layer of hair, smooth the top with a Hard Cushion Frizz Control Brush, and give it a bump from mid-shafts to ends with a curling iron.
  2. Gather your hair loosely at the nape. Secure the pony with one or two Gliders Snag Free Hair Elastics while keeping a 1-inch section of hair free.
  3. Wrap the loose part around the hair-tie. Secure the ends with the Gliders Bobby Pins.

For a more natural look, replace Step 1 by using the Freestyle Home Salon - Bendy Rollers to create some soft curls and waves.

You can also turn this hairstyle into a bun by simply pinning the pony up and around the nape – magic!

Viola! Now just add your fascinator, complete your makeup look with 1000 Hour Day-To-Night lashes and you are good to go! Happy racing season, beauties.
