Even though we are all rugged up amongst our layers of winter clothing, we still want to look smoking hot. How you ask? With a smoky eye of course!
There is no better way to boost your look this winter than with a bold smoky eye. The thought of achieving a smoky eye look can be daunting to some, however with the right tools you can never go wrong. The Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection will help you to achieve a precise and perfectly blended smoky eyeshadow look that you will be eager to wear on the daily!
Now, don’t think that you have to use black to achieve this look. It is possible to use other colours and get the same effect. You may like to choose your eyeshadow colour based on your skin tone, or eye colour. For example, if you have a fair complexion, try using browns that will not be so harsh on your skin. If you have brown eyes, golden tones can really accentuate your eye colour!
The following steps will guide you on how to use the Real Techniques Bold Metals Eye Brushes to create the perfect smoky eye. This tutorial uses brown shadows, however, feel free to adapt steps using any colours of your choice.
Begin with a nude colour as a base and apply it all over your lid using the Bold Metals Oval Shadow Brush.
Still using the Bold Metals Oval Shadow Brush take a light cream colour and apply it as a highlight on your brow bone, just under the arch of your brow.
Using a medium brown shadow, apply it in the outer corner of your eye and right along your crease. Also apply a small amount under your lower lashes. Using the Bold Metals Pointed Smudge Brush allows you to perfectly blend the colour into the crease and gives you precision when applying under your lower lashes.
Next, take a darker brown colour with the same brush and blend it in with the first brown, in the outer corner of your eye and along your crease.
Now to add some bling! Take another dark brown, this time with a shimmer in it, and using the Bold Metals Oval Shadow Brush apply it in the centre of the lid and into the inner corner. You should also be able to blend it slightly with the colour already on the outer corner. Be sure not to put this colour past your crease!
Again taking the medium brown shadow, and the Bold Metals Pointed Smudge Brush lightly blend some more of that colour into the crease and outer corner. This will help to blend the shimmery colour for a more seamless look.
Using your original base shadow and the Bold Metals Tapered Shadow Brush blend it just above the colour in your crease to tie everything together.
Lastly, using the Bold Metals Angled Liner Brush and 1000 Hour Xpress Lash-Gro Eyeliner in either brown or black, line your lashes. You can leave it as a simple line, or for a more dramatic look wing it out! Simply finish the look off with your fave mascara and voilà your smokey eye look is complete.
